Camo is a new app for iPhone and iPad that allows you to repurpose your mobile device's camera as a pro-quality webcam for your Mac that works with all your favorite applications.
May 15, 2020 The Stopmotion Explosion USB 2.0 HD Pro Webcam is a Mac accessory with a full 1080p HD and a 1920 x 1080 high-resolution image for all of your video call and streaming needs. It's designed with an internal noise-canceling microphone and works by simply being plugged into a USB port.
Camo is very easy to set up and with several nice touches along the way. When launching the app on our iPhone or iPad, it tells us to connect to Camo for Mac, and includes a quick link to AirDrop the app's download URL to a Mac in one quick step.
Users can choose which lens to use on their iPhone, adjust video zoom, and control individual settings like saturation, exposure, temperature, and contrast. The iPhone's flash can be controlled to adjust lighting, and users can even jump between multiple iOS devices during a call.
Out of the box there is a massive list of applications that Camo supports. This includes Zoom, Meet, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Slack, Google Chrome, WebEx Teams, QuickTime, and many others. There are more than 40 in total. At the moment FaceTime is left off the list, but is on the roadmap.
Mac Webcam App
Not only does Camo make your webcam broadcasts much better than your Macs built-in camera, but the app gives you a constant preview image of yourself, even in apps that don't offer them, such as Google Meet.
We've been testing out Camo for the past few weeks during its beta process and his made a huge difference in the quality of our video calls. Some computers, such as the Mac Pro, don't have any webcam at all which makes the iPhone a much more affordable solution than buying a standalone camera.
Camo will be available as a free download which limits the video to 720p with the default lenses and a Camo watermark. For users that upgrade, they get all features of the app for a yearly fee of $39.99. Considering some users may be using Camo while working from home before heading back to the office, this may be a better solution than investing in a pricier high-end webcam.

Photo Booth User Guide
You can take a single photo or a group of four photos, or record a video using your computer’s built-in camera or an external video camera connected to your Mac.
Take a photo
If you’re using an external video camera, make sure it’s connected to your computer and turned on.
In the Photo Booth app on your Mac, if you see the View Photo Preview button or the View Video Preview button , click it to see the Take Photo button or the Record Video button .
Use the buttons in the bottom left to choose whether to take a sequence of four photos (called a 4-up photo) or a single photo.
Click the Take Photo button .
Record a video
If you’re using an external video camera, make sure it’s connected to your computer and turned on.
In the Photo Booth app on your Mac, if you see the View Photo Preview button or the View Video Preview button , click it to see the Take Photo button or the Record Video button .
Click the Video button in the bottom left.
Click the Record Video button . Click the Stop button when you finish recording.
Turn off the countdown or flash for photos
When you take a photo, there’s a three-second countdown before the photo is taken. Your screen flashes when the photo is taken.
In the Photo Booth app on your Mac, do any of the following:
Turn off the countdown: Hold down the Option key while clicking the Take Photo button .
Turn off the flash: Hold down the Shift key while clicking the Take Photo button .
Change the flash setting: Choose Camera > Enable Screen Flash.
Turn off both the countdown and the flash: Press and hold the Option and Shift keys while you click the Take Photo button .

Choose a screen size
When taking photos or recording a video in PhotoBooth, you can adjust the window size to either full screen to use your entire computer screen, or Split View if you want to work in another app at the same time.
In the Photo Booth app on your Mac, do one of the following:

Use Photo Booth in full screen: Move the pointer to the green button in the top-left corner of the Photo Booth window, then choose Enter Full Screen from the menu that appears, or click the button . To leave the full-screen view, move the pointer to the green button again, then choose Exit Full Screen from the menu that appears, or click the button .
Use Photo Booth in Split View: Move the pointer to the green button in the top-left corner of the Photo Booth window, then choose Tile Window to Left of Screen or Tile Window to Right of Screen from the menu that appears. To leave the Split View, click its window.
